Netflix vs. Blockbuster

Blockbuster Takes On Netflix: "Blockbuster claims to have locations within a 10-minute drive of 64 percent of the U.S. population." [Scripting News]

If what the article says is true (about long term rentals from Blockbuster), I'll use it.  That is why I love Netflix.  Whenever I get around to sending them back, I do.  I don't know how many times I've had late fees from Blockbuster.

Oh yeah, I've got 3 Blockbuster stores within a 10 minute drive...[Justin Rudd's Radio Weblog]

I feel differently.  We have a Blockbuster 3 blocks from us, but come on, it's $4.28 to rent a movie now.  They've turned the store 1/2 DVD, 1/2 VHS, so they have 1/2 the selection.  And sad to say, sometimes we don't even get around to watching a movie in 5 days.  Netflix seems to have opened a distribution center in Denver, so we have about a 2-3 day turnaround on movies.  Blockbuster would have to give me some good perks to ditch Netflix.

Actually, there Blockbuster bought a Hollywood Video location across the street from the store we go to a few years back, we actually had 2 locations 3 blocks from us for a couple years.  I thought they were going to beat Starbucks in market penetration for a while :-)
