LASIK Experiences
My LASIK experience was much like
Eric Lippert's. Unlike Eric, I wore contacts for about 10 years
off and on (I quit for a couple years when I didn't have money to
keep that habit up), but my optometrist recommended cutting back
because it was starting to affect my corneas. That's when I decided
to get a LASIK. I was -8/-10, also slightly astigmatic in the left
eye, and after my LASIK I was 20/15. Now I run about 20/30, not
perfect, but better than not being able to see further than 6
inches (that's no exaggeration). I've always had halos, so I
haven't noticed them being any worse than before. I'll just second
everything Eric said with my own recommendation for those in the
Denver area; I used Spivack Vision Center, Dr.
Sanderson did my procedure, though it looks like he's no longer
there, in any case, my Optometrist swears by them. Eric's right,
LASIK success correlates highly to a Doctor's experience, you
should get a good one, because there's not much worse than a
botched LASIK.
