Listening to Spam
A friend forwarded me a Wired article on the problems blind users have with spam, with the comment " We can scan a hundred emails for spam by the subject line really quick. They have to listen to all the subject lines. Ouch.". According to the article, "It's a process that has become so unbearable that some blind users say they are giving up on e-mail altogether.", and also notes that some of the attempts to prevent spammers from using free email systems (i.e. image verification) also prevent blind users from using the same system. Email in its current form is clearly failing one class of users.
