Amazon's Gone Blog Crazy
I went to Amazon today and discovered that they have something called a plog on my homepage. They call this a "personal weblog". Essentially, they're trying to make new releases look like a weblog, along with a rating system for "posts" (useful / not useful), I assume that this ties into the normal Amazon rating system. It's kind of a neat twist on the weblog craze and a fun idea, but I doubt that it'll last too long. It's really just the same old Amazon homepage advertisements, skinned a little differently. As far as I can tell, it has hardly any of the features that make it what I'd consider a real weblog (syndication and permalinks, to name a couple).

"Why can't I see my Plog? You must be signed in to Amazon.com to see your Plog. To sign into our Web site, just visit our home page. The link to log in appears at the top center of the page, just below the blue navigation bar."
All I see there is "recommendations"; when I click on it, I see the same old recommendations page I used to see, no "posts", nothing blog-ish at all.
I must not be special. (More seriously, maybe this is something being rolled out only to a few customers at first.)

Well, my "plog" hasn't changed since I first noticed it Monday, so it's also a blog that doesn't update very often...
