It was a little scary Saturday. Karyn and Elaina were napping, so I thought it was safe to make a quick run to Home Depot. I got a frantic call when I was about 5 minutes from home. Karyn was bleeding quite a bit and was understandably upset. I raced home unloaded my lumber out of the back of the car, grabbed the suitcase, and ran almost every light between our house and Rose Hospital. After 2 episodes of bleeding in as many days, the OB thought that there was probably a placental abruption and that it was time to induce labor. After being stuck at 4 centimeters for over 4 hours, Karyn got hit with a few big contractions and was ready to get that epidural. "Let me check you first" said the nurse... "nope, you're 8 cm. You're going to be ready to push in 15 or 20 minutes." And so she was.
